Introduction

In this paper I will be introducing someone that I knew for many years of my life. Mr. Willie Butler has been a friend of my family for more than 5 decades. Being that he is my grandfather’s childhood friend, I also look at him as a mentor and someone who gives great wisdom about choices in life. He has taught me many things about society and how to conduct myself, which molded me into the man that I am today. The reason I chose Mr. Butler is because I knew he had many exciting experiences in life and he was willing to share them with me. Willie Butler did not attend a college due to the fact that he had to drop out in the fifth grade to help his parents around his home. When he turned 18 he actually tried joining the military but was sent back due to the classification 4F, which meant that he had one or more medical condition that totally disqualified him from serving in uniform. This really put him in a bad situation because he was depending on this to change his life and make things better for his family. I learned from his situation that every good opportunity that presents itself I should go for it as he would tell me. He feels that education is the key to success. He told me that if he had a chance to do it all over again he would try and finish school because that was his downfall in life. Mr. Butler later became employed at the Pepsi Cola plant, Georgia Pacific plant, and a host of other plant …show more content…
Butler, stays with him to provide care for him, makes sure that his bills are paid and cooks for him. There is no agency he receives social support from at the time, just friends and family. Mr. Butler likes to play the guitar with his friends sometimes. He always had dreams of being in a blues band ever since he was a child. My grandfather and Mr. Butler play guitars together all the time. Growing up I have always wanted to learn so I could have played with them. Health Status Diabetes, which is a chronic condition that affects the way the body processes blood sugars is one of the leading causes of death in the U.S. now days. Mr. Butler was diagnosed with this disease early in life and to his knowledge this is the only thing he suffers from. His mother suffered from this disease also. His father never really was sick and was a healthy man that died of old age. He believes the trait was passed down to him from his mother’s genes. Anything Different & Suggestions about
