his reality TV show the apprentice, religiously every Thursday night. I even did a little money dance when the show’s intro credits would come on. My family would watch these aspiring business men and woman compete to be in Mr. Trump’s good graces. Nowadays, instead of men and women competing to work at one of Mr. Trump’s hotel’s they’re competing to be his right hand and have partial control of the United States of America. On November 9th 2016, the nation was at a stand still, in shock, in awe of our new president elect…Mr. Trump. Since Mr. Trump’s win, all around the country people are taking a stand to combat everything Mr. Trump stands for or what he seems to stand for from prior statements. However, as President Teddy Roosevelt once said “There is nothing to fear, but fear itself.” Here are a couple of things to calm your nerves and remember now that Donald J. Trump is our president elect.

1). Trump can not deport your family http://i.giphy.com/26tknCqiJrBQG6bxC.gif My hometown Miami, FL is a city made of various cultures and ethnicities and I have a lot of friends who aren’t here legally and are horrified with the reality of Mr. Trump being our future president because of the wall he wants to build. As much as Donald Trump wants to “build that wall” and send immigrants back to their county, it’s important to remember that Mr. Trump can’t just make up laws as the president. All laws must go through Congress and the Senate.
2). Still having concerns? Speak to your professor. http://i.giphy.com/EMjvXotUldoqI.gif If your professors haven’t spoken with you already about the election, speak to them. Almost all of my professors have taken matters into their own hands to make sure all students feel welcome in their classes and that if we have any concerns that they are all ears. If you want to hear some words of advice or clarity other than from your friends or family, a professor is your best

I remember when Donald Trump first announced his political run for office. He built his campaign on the slogan: We’re going to Make America Great Again, “reinforced” by his bold claim of “building a wall”. When Trump got down into the weeds with Megyn Kelly during the first Fox News Republican debate, I sensed Donald Trump was a proud and arrogant man. I went on my own campaign against him; making phone calls, writing emails, calling news agencies and talk shows, posting madly to Facebook — whatever I could do to try to stop a really bad person from wrecking the Republican Party and damaging the nation. NeverTrump was my obsession, but it was, at that time, merely political for me.…

Liked listening to Michelle Martin but something has happened since the election. It wasn't notable at first but there was a slow progression of her right wing beliefs hitting the airwaves. On Saturday's show she had two political guests on, Tom Delay a convicted but later overturned criminal and Tom Perez, the newly appointed head of the DNC. When introducing Delay she became all giddy and when Perez was introduced it was like a matter of fact. The air time for Perez wasn't as long as Delays…

Some of the suggestions for coping in the articles seem to come from a place of privilege and can be better practiced by those who will not be directly affected by the outcome. One mentioned putting things in perspective but then went on to say, “There have been contentious elections before, and we got through them and we will this time, too.” This seems to trivialize the experiences of those who weren’t able to make it or who's lives were deeply and negatively affected by whoever was elected in the past. It also doesn’t take into account how the number of hate crimes committed have increased in the light of Trumps campaign. There are reasons to be genuinely afraid and we shouldn’t pass it off as irrational and something you need to ignore and not talk about because “everything will be okay in the end.”…

The slogan that propelled Donald Trump into his influence across the nation, “make America great again,” shows that Trump sees America has fallen downhill and has hopes to improve it. Trump wants to see this country go back to the prosperous country it once was, but he does not know how to filter his words according to most, which makes him seem frightening. Despite Clinton’s accusation about the risk of Donald Trump, his clever use of scare tactics gives voters a sense of security because of his ideas concerning immigration and terrorism. According to Molly Ball, author of “Donald Trump and the Politics of Fear,” Donald Trump uses fear to his advantage in hopes of winning the presidential election.…
