A. Trust in this case study is a confidence to the integrity and skills of the physicians or clinicians. It’s a confidence that whatever they do, they need to fulfil their role as a patient or a healthcare agent.
B. In Mr. Nelson’s medical history, he already experienced three deteriorations in his health due to peripheral vascular disease and diabetes. By the time he found out, Mr. Nelson intensively cared for himself throughout his lifestyle and his diet is mostly through continues-infusion jejunal feedings. Despite all the effort for treatment and care, Mr. Nelson’s prognosis is poor and it seems his condition is irreversible, so he already stated to his family especially to his wife that he doesn’t want to spend his life hooked up in machine but the family refused to give up and demands for aggressive treatment.
C. Mr. Nelson repeatedly expressed to his family that he doesn’t want to live in his current condition and allow him to die, he also attempted to end his life by removing his own tube and disconnect himself from the ventilator. According to an article “Many Faces: Addressing Diversity in Healthcare” that in order to meet the necessities of the cultural diverse patients, the physicians or providers must have cultural awareness. If diversity is ignored it may lead to inequality and bad outcomes regarding patient care such as emotional stress and psychological damage if the cultural needs are not being taken seriously. The National Student Nurses’ Association launch a protocol to provide specific care for cultural awareness that fits into patient’s beliefs and lifestyle to have a better outcome
