Firstly, It is evident that nothing I say under the pressure of the moment can and should be treated sincerely. Unfortunately, not everyone around me understands, that putting pressure is not the best, but often the worst way to make one think or feel something. If it was not for Mr Murkins, I would have never have thought to write this letter. I did not see my actions to be so ill-mannered and atrocious that I would have to write an apology.

I feel obliged to be honest with myself and you, therefore, I believe that I have done nothing wrong in my eyes. Although my group and I may have been a little loud, I honestly don’t understand the reason we are forced to write this letter. The whole class was shouting,

On 13th Feb 2008 prime minister delivered his speech and apologized on behalf of all australians and saying that we are sorry for what we had done. This was a well known symbolic strategy that has a major impact on the Indigenous peoples. The main message of the speech was to apologize to the indigenous for all the mistreatment that they caused in the past and the effect that it had on them and their families. This was a way to try and remove barriers and build a better relationship and bring reconciliation one step closing by realising their mistakes and sincerely apologizing for all the mistreatment caused. Although the Apology itself did not refer to offering practical compensation to members of the Stolen Generations, it had a significant…

In my letter to Mr. Woodlock, I was able to incorporate all three elements of rhetoric: ethos, pathos, and logos. I used ethos by adding a study done by the National Association for Sport and Physical Education, which shows that physical education classes are beneficial to students in many ways. Since that association is a credible source, it is an ethos. I used pathos by adding that students these days are just spending most of their school day sitting in a chair. Students need a way to relieve their stress and anxiety, which may lead to many problems.…

On August 17, 1998 President Bill Clinton delivered a speech to the American public addressing an inappropriate relationship with a former White House Intern, Monica Lewinsky. In comparison to Robert M. Eisingers “The Political Non-Apology” Clinton 's public apology has some of the characteristics of a full apology but, is predominantly a non-apology. Although, acknowledges the offense committed, he minimizes his offense throughout the speech and plays the victim card in attempts to potentially restore his reputation. At some points he attempts to apologize, but his choice of words diminish the effectiveness of his apology and his form of non-apologizing is used to his advantage. Clinton appears to meet some of the criteria of a full apology;…

An Overdue Apology from the Nation An official Apology to Aboriginals and Torres Strait Islander had been postponed for 11 years after the inquiry into children removal report Bringing Them Home (1997) was released during the Howard Government (1996-2007). The report recommended for an apology as a first step to heal the wounds of victims because of human rights violations (Human Right and Equal Opportunity Commission 246). However, Prime Minister John Howard rejected to apologize for indigenous people on behalf of the nation and stressed that delivering a symbolic apology and letting Australians of this generation burden with the blame and a sense of national guilt would not facilitate successful reconciliation (Gunstone 80). Instead, he advocated…

I would like to thank you in advance for taking the time to review my letter of appeal. The sole purpose of this letter is to highlight the reasons behind my poor average this past academic year and the steps I am taking to make sure my average will be well above 60. Towards the end of October my grandmother was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer and became seriously ill as her body could not handle the chemotherapy. Over the next few months it worsened and she eventually passed away in February. Not being able to be there for my family during this unfortunate time period and imagining what both my parents, who work full time were going through made me even more stressed and depressed.…
