Susie Salmon death, at the age of 14, had a great impact on the lives of her family members. In the book The Lovely Bones Susie was raped and killed in a gruesome way by Mr. Harvey. Jack dealt with the situation in a horrible way, because he was always depressed. He never liked to expressed his feelings, while Grandma Lynn was the complete opposite. She was the person that brought everyone's spirits up when everyone was depressed. Jack and Abigail had two different reactions to Susie's death and it can be explained by their relationship, thoughts about Mr. Harvey, and their stages of depression.
