Collins is sleeping over at the Bennet household. After dinner, Mr. Collins decides to read a story to the Bennet daughters—about how to be a proper woman. While reading chapter 15, we learn that Mr. Collins is interested in marrying one of the Bennet daughters. In fact, Mr. Collins has feelings for Elizabeth Bennet. In chapter 19, we learn that Mr. Collins proposes to Elizabeth; however, Elizabeth does not accept Mr. Collins proposal. In chapter 20, we get the opportunity to realize that Mrs. Bennet is fully aware that her daughter, Elizabeth, does not want to marry Mr. Collins.
Character 2: Charlotte Lucas Charlotte Lucas is mentioned once again in chapter 20 of the novel. She arrives at the Bennet household; however, as I continued to read the remaining chapters of this week’s reading, I realized that Charlotte is not mentioned as much. Therefore, for now, I still see Charlotte as a young woman, in her late twenties, who is not interested in getting married yet.
