Mr. Clause Case Study

Prior to giving Mr. Clause any medications we would assess his blood sugar levels. We would ask Mr. Clause if he has any history or if he has diabetes and if so what methods of action he is taking to treat his disease. We would also like to know if Mr. Clause consumes any alcohol and if so how often and how much. We would ask Mr. Clause if there is tobacco in the pipe he smokes at the end of the day. We would also ask him if he has any allergies to Dextrose. We would ask him about his diet and potassium intake, We would inform him of the importance of adequate potassium intake while taking his hypertension medication and the antibiotic. We would want to check his kidney function to make sure everything is working well because they antibiotic and blood pressure medication are excreted by the renals. We would also ask Mr. Clause if he has had any psychological, or spiritual stressors in his life and if so what we could do to help and come up with a plan to do so. .

Goals The goals for Mr. Clauses drug therapy is to keep him hydrated throughout the process of treatment by giving him Dextrose 5% in Water intravenously. Another diagnosis would be the patient is at risk for constipation related to our knowledge and antibiotics may cause constipation.
