Before reading Silliman’s analysis, my theoretical knowledge of Mozart G minor Symphony was basic, however I now have a clear idea of role of each instruments in this piece and how the first movement is structured that I could not figure it out myself. Anteliffe explains the reason why this piece is special symphony and how does this piece reflect Mozart’s hardships. Through Anteliffe’s historical analysis, my own understanding of this work has been improved from shallow to deep understanding. My personal understanding has developed to such a complex level that I now perceives Mozart’s emotion that is represented through his music by having a knowledge of Mozart’s circumstances at that period.
