Moving To Brazil

Moving a business overseas is not an easy decision, especially if the desired country has a different culture, habits, religion, and speaks a different language. “Acclimating to a new country takes time and effort, but it’s a mistake to limit one’s socializing to other expats (…)” (Goodman 2015). Having all this in mind, I would think that moving to the desired country before opening the business there and doing a market research, learning about its cultures, how people act and react, and its economy, would be the best option to do not cause too much impact in the company. For example, if I am to move my business from the United States to Brazil, even though it is still in the Americas, I would have to think about laws, public, marketing, economy, government, the country’s beliefs, currency, etc. To start with, I would have to adapt my public, since the economy in Brazil is not as strong and the medium / low class is predominant, differently from the U.S. On the other hand, I would not have to adapt the company on the religious side, because even though Brazil is a Catholic country, religion does not take a big place – except from some Holidays. The same goes for the dress code; Brazil is a tropical country, but that does not …show more content…
Even though Portuguese looks and sounds a little similar to Spanish, there are lot differences, making them almost impossible to have Spanish as a second language. Not many people speak Portuguese in the United States, but it is not hard to find qualified professionals who speak English fluently in Brazil, making it then easier to hire new employees overseas. Although it is not hard to find English speakers in Brazil, taking with the company some fundamentals employees could be a life-saver – taking for example, a manager who knows how the company works, who has the same vision and works towards the same
