Moving To Arkansas: A Short Story

Decent Essays
My whole life I have been homeschooled up till now. This is the first time I have ever been in public school. I love it here in Arkansas, but it is so different than California. California had bad traffic and mean people. I would go to my cousin's house all the time when my mom and dad would go on dates. California is one of the biggest state’s I have ever been in.

My Dad got a job out in Conway, so we had to move to Greenbrier. I love the feel of Greenbrier. Every time I go to church I get this feeling that I will stay here for a long time. “ How did Arkansas change to who you are now?”. When I was 10 and we lived in California my mom and dad told us that we were moving to Arkansas. I was thrilled because I got so tired of the same things every day, but I had to have a lot of responsibilities. I had to be in charge of my sisters a lot more because when me and my sister and brother get home we have to help my mom with are baby sister Iris.

I did not know that there was a walmart up the street. Before I moved here I barely went to walmart.. Whether it is night or day I went to walmart. Anyway, the school is perfect, it is all I dreamed of. I love the teachers and mrs. Martin. I am very excited about the dance to night in the cafeteria. It is a Valentines dance. I am very excited because it is the first Valentines dances I have ever been to.

The part that makes me who I am today is how all the teachers help me so much.
When I was homeschooled I did go to a charter school which is a school for homeschooled kids. All teachers did help me, but it was a small school so when you need help it was at a bad time.
I am very blessed that I have my mom and dad to help me on this journey. Thank to mom and dad and all the teachers I have in

The day I moved to Georgia, we had been living in Texas for five years when my mom said we were moving to Georgia. I graduated my senior year from high school I thought she was lying, but she said that the VA center down in Texas was awful, and she didn’t like it there anyways, but she really wanted a better VA system. Then we started packing every month putting stuff in storage, and having to do open houses every other week, we had to clean, vacuum and take our pets with us every time we left the house until our house finally sold. Then we started looking at houses In Grovetown, also for a good school system then we waited 3 weeks for a house because we were looking at spots with upstairs and down stairs, a big backyard for or dogs, also a school…

I remember the moment my mom told me we were moving to another town. I was only about 6 or 7 when it happened so I was rather excited when I heard the news. When I heard the news we were moving to Spearfish, South Dakota, which I had never heard of, I was wondering what kind of place it was. I am from the small town of Wall, South Dakota which unless you’re talking about a village, is pretty small. When I heard the news I wondered what kind of place a town called Spearfish might look like.…

One cold and dreary day in January, I got home from an uneventful day at school. I never would have guessed what was about to happen or thought that this would ever happen to me. I was just a quiet freshman in high school. My father sat down with my family and told us that we were about to move to Texas. I was both shocked and a little excited to move because I’ve always wanted to go south.…

Moving to Wyoming “We are moving to Wyoming” my mom said. A couple days into summer vacation the plan to move was finalized. At dinner that night the whole family agreed to then proceed with this new adventure. My mother had good reason, she said we would have access to a better education in Wyoming, it would reduce the number of times we commuted over Teton pass and it would help my father’s work be less stressful. The move, for me, was difficult, but I persevered through it and became stronger in the process.…

A Thousand Experiences Throughout life, individuals face different obstacles and struggles; my obstacle was my tendency to be shy. For example, when I was faced with social pressures like speaking in front of a class for a presentation, or meeting new people, I would be a nervous wreck. My palms would sweat, my voice would tremble, and it took all the strength I could muster to overcome my irrational fears. I only had a small, albeit close knit group of friends due to my introverted ways.…
