I have only been in America for a few weeks now, it was a long hard journey to get to where I am now but I know it will all be worth it in the end. Leaving all of you in Italy was definitely the hardest part about all of this. After boarding a boat with not one friend or loved one, and being stuck there with them for a very, very long time it was difficult not to want to go back home to my family. But I knew that going to America was the right choice to be making for a good future. I feel as if everybody just expects me and the others to be able to fluently speak english but it is just not that simple to learn a new language. One thing that I was particularly looking forward to was to be able to look for my new job, most would not find this to be exciting but I see it as a new challenge to be taking on. There are so many different jobs available here in America, most available jobs are working in a factory. This job was a new experience for me to go through so it was a bit of a hard change to get used to. After working at it for the many hours it became significantly easier to handle, this was a good thing because if you did not maintain a fast working speed then you would be punished. I am very glad to be able to have this job even if it is not something that I had expected to be doing, but I know that this is something that I need to be doing in order to send money back home to my family. My job is extremely demanding with our hours, we are being forced to work 10-12 hour days six days a week, but it is definitely worth it to be making any kind of money no matter how much it is, anything will be helpful at this point.
