Moving To A Small Town

Decent Essays
One of the biggest reasons why some may be put off from moving to a country town, are the types of careers or sometimes the lack of. In most small towns the job or career oppritunites have taken a great blow, we can take Quesnel for example. A lot of mills have shut down causing workers to be laid off, many would not want to be moving into a town where there are already unemployed individuals looking for jobs. It does not mean there are no job opprotunities at all in small towns,Sandra Ruiz, who is an event coordinator for region 8 explains that "Job development opportunities in small towns often exceed expectations if a job developer knows where and how to look for them." Every small town has some type of uniqueness to it, or something special

I don’t believe that any town should just give up and die. Smaller towns tend to have less to work with but that’s no excuse for allowing their city to fall into ruins. Community leaders and members have to realize that growth doesn’t just happen magically, it must be worked for. Community leaders have to research and find brokers and economic developers to help their town to grow and flourish. This allows those brokers and developers to grow their assets and the community to grow in ways they could of never imagined.…

My idea of exposure to something new and different for students that may not have known a career as a physician or nurse practitioner or physician assistant was possible before is a better practice for recruitment to small towns. When students learn of new and different professions in healthcare their horizon is broaden. The community helps to shatter the “highly gender segregated” of only girls becoming nurses and boys becoming physicians (Sherman & Zurbriggen, 2014, p. 195). When the obstacle of paying for college and even further medical school is taken out of the equation for them to perform well the possibilities are endless especially know he whole community is in support of their success.…

This book really opened my eyes to understanding others and not making assumptions based on people’s skin color. Walking a mile in someone else’s shoes and understanding what their life might be like gives a whole new perspective on how I live mine. This book showed me that even though Zak was born Muslim, he is still a normal child. Living just outside of a city allows you to visit the city when you want but still live in a community setting. Growing up in a family oriented community was really great as it allowed me to make many friends and get to grow up with a majority of them throughout my entire public school experience. Being able to go outside on any given summer day and play with all my neighbors, gives a sense of belonging. Being in a new place allows for a lot of exploring to occur, leading you to learn new things you never would not have known unless you went away from your house. If you return to your hometown you wouldn't get to experience everything the world has to offer.…

People in small town communities take care of, and depend upon, each other to a greater extent. The stereotypical Bible-thumper that I was warned about, in reality, is much more helpful and a lot less judgmental than I was told. Although this close-knit type of culture can be somewhat suspicious of outsiders, and even more so for Yankee outsiders, once you get to know them, and are able to break through their own stereotypes, you both realize that we have more in common than we do…
