As I’m raking leaves in my front yard, in a huge house in Kentucky, my dad says in a very somber voice, “Your mother just died in the hospital.” I fell to my knees and started crying. It has been about two days, and a mailman gives me a letter. I go inside to show my dad , but I took it into my own hands. It said “Overdue house payment.” Later as I’m just settling down, my father comes into my room and says “ We have to move to a smaller house.”
“ I know, you got a letter today saying,’ Overdue house payment .’” I replied
My father then said “ Your mother was our only income, so we have to move to a smaller apartment.” The next day we went to rent a U-Haul, and packed everything in it, like our couch and kitchen supplies, and most importantly

He wasn’t breathing. I ran screaming “Help!” luckily I had my drivers license so I could drive my father to the hospital. I ran struggling to carry him. I lay him in the back seat of our Ford Fusion, and stomp on the gas as all the people in the garden were focused in on my car. I was going about 110 mph when I see a sign that says “Cleveland Hospital.” I pull into the hospital. I grab my father out of the backseat and run to the ER section. They asked me my name and age, I said “My name is Charles Hoover and I’m sixteen.” All they said is to wait in the waiting room until we find what happend to him. Three hours later they come out and said he died of a heart attack, and he’s not coming back to life. I started running out of the hospital and crying. I had been in my car for two hours processing the devastating news. At 7:00PM I finally went home, almost not being able to drive because of how much I was still …show more content…
I planted the potato plants, went back every morning, and evening to water the plants. A month has past and I have full grown potatoes in the ground, but today I noticed that there was holes in my garden which someone has been taking my potato plants. At this point I was really mad. I made a plan to see who has been taking my potatoes, I was going to go to the garden at 10:00PM to see who is there, taking my stuff. So I was standing on the other side of the street wearing black so no one could see me. I’ve now been sitting on this bench for two hours and nothing has happened, I was just about to leave as I see a black man, I recognized from the garden, digging up my potatoes and eating them. I didn’t want to make a commotion that would wake anyone up so I just was going to wait till tomorrow morning to make my move on this

When the letter arrived from my neighbour's lawyer about my children littering the mutual driveway with candy wrappers, it was the beginning of a six year legal and emotional battle. My kids, 12, 11 and 7 would not have discarded trash on the driveway, not because they are such “good” individuals but that I would make them pick up anything they threw away instead of disposing it in the garbage. From the time they were toddlers they understood ....not to litter. Even if they decided to litter away from our house, out of my sight, they would not be so bold as to toss refuse where I would see it. And who sends a lawyer's letter, even if it was true, instead of confronting the kid's themselves or at least talking to the parents first.…

During both the fall/2015 and spring/2016 I was asked to move back home to become the primary caretaker of my 92 year old grandmother who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease. Initially the routine was simple, school, work, and my grandmother. During the year while being the primary caretaker of my grandmother I was also working maintaining a twenty hour work schedule, which at the time seemed to work out for both myself and my family. Keeping up with the school work didn’t seem to be an issue until the work load from my course began to pile up, having to commit so much of my time to my grandmother as well as school and work was just too much for myself to keep up with.…

As previously mentioned, I was born and raised in Northern California, so I am not estranged to being completely new to an area. One of my strengths is my experience adjusting to life at Cal State Fullerton, as my home was not a simple one to two hour drive away. This experience makes me empathetic to students who are frightened to move to the dorms and be away from home. Furthermore, I have been a certified lifeguard for three years, so safety is big for me. Knowing basic first aid, basic life support, and safety skills are essentials to emergencies as a Resident Advisor.…
