There are many different definitions of globalizations. Many different worldwide entities like World Trade Organization, the World Bank, and the United Nations. They all have some similar underlying definitions, which lead to bring the world together in reference to the economy. However many believe globalization is a method of how the society relate and incorporate with international economies. Though the main definition is from the new world encyclopedia, which says “it is a term used to describe the changes in societies and the world economy that are the result of dramatically increased cross-border trade, investment and cultural exchange.” Then there was a similar definition in Moving the Goalposts: Gender and Globalisation in the Twenty-First Century; it said “globalization denotes the process in which economic, financial, technical and …show more content…
However women were impacted negatively by globalization but then there is a significant gain for women with globalization as well. Globalization has also affected the roles of women and men in their households. Men are becoming less and less of the breadwinners, which is hurting this masculinity figure they are told to uphold by society. However, Ruth Pearson pointed out in her writing that when this illusion of breadwinner is getting destroyed, it leads to stress and conflict in the household, as there may be arguments for the powerful spouse or debate on household work contribution. Women are becoming more educated and going out in the workforce and men are increasing the role as caregivers. Also by changing family dynamics, more women are paying attention to their careers than raising a family, which is leading to reduce birth rates. Globalization is letting women escape from social hierarchy and expectations. These aspects of traditional roles are getting demolished as we see women going into the trades now and men going in to tourism or medical field as male
