Personal Narrative: My Home In Hockley, TX

Moving from my home in Hockley, TX, to my current home in Plano, TX wasn’t the easiest of transitions for me. Hockley was where my closest family reside, the people I knew growing up, the ones who raised me when my parents were either working or attending college so they can get a job to support me. The ones who played video games with me and, taught me how to fix a fence or mow a lawn. Or take me outside to the field in my great-grandmothers yard and play baseball or football with me. And, where my best friend and others who I cared deeply about lived. But when I moved not all was bad. My mom worked as a counselor at nearly every school I’ve gone to, with that comes with both a downside and upside. At the schools I was rarely bullied because my mom was feared by nearly all the students and since I was her child others were also afraid to talk to become my friend. Fortunately, by the time I was in middle school I started to make a few friends, thanks to my friend Nick. In middle school I also met a lot of my favorite teachers, for example, my history teacher Mr. Burgeron. He was a funny teacher who was always pushing for me to do the best in his …show more content…
It was all triggered by my father losing his job at T-Mobile, so after a few months of him searching for a job he was offered one at RadioShack. You would think that it was a good thing, which it was, but we still had to move our entire family from a place where all our relatives live, to place where we knew no one. That summer, we started the extensive and, exhausting process of moving. Then we drove at least four hours not including the breaks for gas, snacks, and restroom breaks. When we finally arrived I noticed that there were distinct differences. For example, we were able to bike to school in as little as five to ten minutes, and the park and library were in walking distance from our house.
