Imagine being someone who doesn't know anyone, where anything is, and how to do most things. “Schooled” is about someone named Cap who was raised in a hippy commune and ends up moving to the city where he barely knows anything. In the story, Cap meets many people that change throughout the story, and they get “Schooled.” Being schooled is being taught something. “Schooled” is an appropriate title for this book.…
Health and nutrition have been an essential part of life since the beginning of time, but more recently these topics are shared and examined more frequently than ever, especially in America. In Michael Pollan’s article “Our National Eating Disorder,” Claudia Kalb’s “Food News Blues,” and Karin Kratina’s “The Right Thing to Do?” it is made apparent that how we eat may be just as important as what we eat. These three authors make very valid points about American’s obsession with health fads and negative thinking towards many food groups.…
In “Waging a Living,” it shows the effects that not having enough money has on different types of people. For example Jerry was making twelve dollars an hour, but he could barely afford a decent place to live. And it didn't help that he was a recovering Alcoholic, and Drug addict. Jerry didn't make enough to support anybody but himself, and he could barely do that. He paid 530 dollars a month for his apartment, that was smaller than most public bathrooms, which didn't include a separate bathroom.…

One major change I have recently witnessed was when my mom started chemotherapy. It was extremely hard to even begin to adapt and accept the change into my family’s and my own life. This happened after my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. When I first received the news I didn’t believe that that it would actually ever happen. Breast cancer runs in my family, my grandmother and my aunt on my mother's side both had it.…
Acceptance of new phenomena is always horrifying. People forgot that very first communities were built based on new stuff which were unknown in the first place for the human being. After years and years of civilization, people are confused how they must manage their reaction to different or new phenomenon; normally, one will simply ignore it or will fight against it. Being Agender sounds supernatural for some people. Agender means genderless.…
It has taught me to be strong, like her, to be loud, like her, and to be happy, like her. Losing my mother, was incredibly saddening but also extremely awakening. Even though my mother could not be there when I graduated high school, or be there when I get married, have children, and start my dream job, she is always by me in spirit. I will miss her bright smile, laugh, and charismatic personality, however, I am quite lucky since I have inherited all of her qualities that I miss. When I have children, or my brother has children, I will tell them all of the good stories and tell them to always remember her.…

There are many MESSAGES that an individual can analyze from “A Stroke of Insight”. For example, Jill speaks about how her spirit could “soar free” during her stroke and that she found nirvana. The fact that Jill nearly died and she could find nirvana or peace within herself, means that anyone is fully capable of finding peace within themselves. In addition, if Jill can find something positive in something as frightening as a stroke, we can find the positive in any situation. The RECEIVER of the message was the audience that watches her speak.…
As the years go by, new political dramas and landmarks seem to be a dime a dozen. New wars, scandals, controversies, and otherwise seem to find their way into the mainstream media on the daily. As newer generations find themselves in the midst of it all, gaining a platform to be heard and see the change one desires can feel impossible. Whether it be today, 20 years ago, or 50 years ago, getting your voice heard in the global sphere is troubling for younger generations. This sense of not being able to control the politics that affect your life can be found in “Waiting on the World to Change” by John Mayer.…
