The plot differences between the novel and the play To Kill a Mockingbird begins with the fixation of the Radley house not being displayed in expanded detail during the play, as it is in the novel. Furthermore, the play did not refer to the fire that burnt Miss Maudie’s house down. This fire was a significant part of the storyline because it showed that the people in the town are not bad-hearted they are just ignorant to Tom Robinson and his case. Continuing on Mrs. Henry Lafayette Dubose passes away a few day after the verdict of the Tom Robinson case in the play, but in the book she never lived to see the verdict of the case. Finally, Calpurnia did not take Jem and scout to her African American church in the play, in the novel, this is em…

Of course, the similarities of both the play and the playwright’s version is that the characters in both remain fairly the same despite who plays it. They had the same backstory, same motif, and frankly the same issues to face which cannot be taken out of production. That is the “meat” of the show, in other words, so the director cannot change the characters immensely. Nevertheless, Last of The Boys was a production worth watching.…

One example of a substantial difference is in the play, Paris, Juliet’s fiance, comes to visit her dead body when Romeo comes to kill himself; Romeo and Paris fight and Paris dies as well and asks Romeo, “Open the tomb, lay me with Juliet” (V.iii.73). In the movie, not only does Paris not die, but he never even comes to visit Juliet in the tomb. This changes the viewer’s perspective of the story because Paris plays a smaller role in the story since his main part was when he comes to visit Juliet and is killed. Also, the reader may get a different perspective of Paris’ love for Juliet since he never comes to visit her; in the play, his love seems genuine because he comes to visit her but it seems more fake in the movie since he does nothing when she dies. Another difference from the play to the movie is that Friar Lawrence gives a large summary about the entire play both Romeo and Juliet’s families come to see their bodies.…

A play and a novel are two very different ways of telling a plot of a story. In the play A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry the audience is able to feel involved in the story through many aspects. Usually in novels it is consistent with one point of view through the story. However, in a play the audience is able to gain perspective from most of the characters.
