Movie Vs Book Comparison

Have you ever read an awesome book that was made into a movie, but they left out major plot points from the book? A wrinkle in time was made into a 2018 film by disney. The story is about a girl named meg trying to find her long lost father accompanied by her brother charles and friend calvin . The original book was by madeline l’engle. The book and movie were actually not that similar though. The book was better than the movie because of the twins, the beasts, and charles is 5 and doesn’t go to school. The book is better because it includes the twins, sandy and dennys. I was incredibly upset when the movie failed to feature the twins. They are meg’s brothers and they even told meg,”“Let us do the fighting when it’s necessary,” …show more content…
murry, and calvin meet the beasts. In the book, meg, calvin and dr. murray tesser to a planet with beasts. Meg is almost captured by the black thing on the way. Aunt beast helping her is a huge part of the story. For example,” “So you are awake, little one?” The words came gently to her ears. “What a funny little tadpole you are! Is the pain gone now?” (aunt beast)“All gone.”(meg) “Are you warm and alive again?”(aunt beast) “Yes, I’m fine.” (meg)She struggled to sit up. “No, lie still, small one. You must not exert yourself as yet. We will have a fur garment for you in a moment, and then we will feed you. You must not even try to feed yourself. You must be as an infant again. The Black Thing does not relinquish its victims willingly.”(aunt beast)”(pages 198-199) Aunt beast saved meg’s life! In the movie, meg didn’t even leave camazotz with dr. murry and calvin. Her emotions made her stay in the movie. This was my favorite chapter in the book, and it was very upsetting that they didn’t include this in the movie. This was an important part of the story and they should have included it. I really don’t understand why disney felt the need to discard such an important part of the story. Other than failing to include characters, disney also changed characters

Another part of movie that showed importance of family was when in the movie the teachers were saying rude things about Meg and Charles Wallace. Charles Wallace overheard and immediately talks back and defends his sister Meg. This scene showed how Charles Wallace cared for Meg and wasn't embarrassed to defend her. The importance of family is also used when Calvin realizes how lucky Meg is because she has a family that actually cares for her while he doesn't. Calvin develops a family bond with the Murry family when they go on the journey to save Mr. Murry and they care about and show affection and concern as if he were a part of the…

Although there are differences that I didn’t see until I read the book and watched the movie, there are also similarities that I didn’t think would happen. More characters appear, Hannah is called Chaya by the camp people, Hannah writes numbers on her arm for grandpa, all these along with many other things happen in the book that doesn't happen in the movie.
