The film ‘The Pursuit of Happyness’ (2006) is a drama movie directed by Gabriele Muccino inspired by a true story about a multi-millionaire man called Chris Gardner a San Francisco man. Three characters that appear most regularly were Will Smith playing Chris Gardner, Jaden Smith as Christopher Gardner Jr and Thandie Newton as Linda Gardner. The real Chris Gardner had experienced a difficult childhood living with an abusive stepfather and also experiencing rapist by a man as a boy. The real Chris lived with relatives and in foster care after his mother was sent to state prison for trying to burn down the house while her abusive husband was inside. Chris gave the economic structure of the society he never gives up fighting for his five years old son’s happiness on his own. Christopher never looks embarrassed of his dad poverty after his mother left him with Chris thinking that he will be able to take better care of him. Chris joins the rank of homelessness after the IRS has taken cash out of his bank account enforced Chris to live out in the streets of San Francisco with his committed son staying in a bathroom at a train station and carrying his suitcase to work was one of the social problems that occur in Chris life which impact his family especially Christopher. According to National Law Center on Homelessness & Poverty it was estimated that “Over the last decade, there have been more than 600 attacks against homeless people”. These figures mean that living on the street makes homeless people more susceptible to be abuse also the real Mr. Gardner was physical and emotional abuse by his stepfather beating his mother, brother and sister and even Chris. The U.S. Conference of Mayors, 2005 identified mental Illness having approximately “16% of the adult homeless suffer from mental illness” This adult homeless population suffering from mentally ill could be caused by drug and alcohol abuse. Homeless stereotypes as individuals who are drunkards, addicts, or just plain delusional people who are experiencing homeless can be able to live or accomplish anything they desire just like how people who are stable can accomplish.
