The movie selected for the mental health analysis paper is ‘Silver Linings Playbook’. The main reason for choosing this movie is that it shows a good depiction of bipolar disorder. The entire movie is set in Philadelphia. The main character ‘Pat’ is suffering from a bipolar disorder, who has recently lost his job and was discharged from a mental institution. After getting out of the medical facility, he realizes that Nikki, his wife, has moved away and that his father doesn’t work anymore. Both of Pat’s parents suffer from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). Pat is determined to get Nikki back. The main reason why Pat was hospitalized was because he beat the history teacher from his school to death after finding Nikki in the shower with him. Pat attempts to find the ‘silver linings’ by changing his outlook on life. He meets Tiffany Maxwell at his friend Ronnie’s house; Tiffany’s husband has recently died. She asks Pat to take part in a dance competition and in return she would deliver a letter to Nikki from Pat. Pat agrees and starts rehearsing with Tiffany to prepare for the competition. Pat’s father spends all of his money on a bet that the NFL team the Philidelphia Eagles will defeat their opponent. The Eagles lose that game and Tiffany claims that she is a lucky charm to the Eagles. Pat’s dad says that if the Eagles win their next game against the Dallas Cowboys, he will win twice the money he lost before and that he will award a score of 5 to Tiffany and Pat in the…
