Would you choose to stay if your whole family died? if you had the choice to stay or leave? ‘If i stay’ was about a life or death decision. Mia has to choose between life and death after her family dies in a car accident. She has an out of body experience while she is in coma. She has flashbacks about her family as she is walking around in the hospital. Her family is all there to support her. After the book came out, they made a movie based on it. The book and movie were both good, but some parts were better in each. I liked the book and movie the same because they both explained things in different way and both the ways worked. The book was better with the Mia’s relationships between Gran and Teddy. I will give three parts in the book that …show more content…
In the movie Gramps talks to Mia while she is in the coma before he leaves, he looks right at Mia’s spirit as if he can see her sitting there. In the book, “Gramps doesn 't leave me. He slumps back into the chair. It’s quiet, now you can almost hear other people 's dreams.” (181) The movie shows that Gramps can feel her there, but in the book you don 't get to see that connection between them. The second reason, the movie is better than the book is in the movie, it shows a bright light when she starts to give up. With this you can see that she is getting ready to leave. In the book, “I’ve been sitting all along, too tired to move. I wish I could sleep.” (144) It’s hard to tell that she is giving up. In the movie you can’t miss it. The third reason, that the movie is better than the book is in the movie Adam sings a song he wrote about Mia. This song brings memories back to her and the next thing she knows she is back in her body. In the book, “and suddenly I just need to hold his hand more than anything in this world. Not just to be held by it, but to hold it back.” (234) In the movie, it brought back memories which makes it have more meaning. It made Mia see her family and freinds. I like the movie and book the same there are good parts in

This essay is going to point out the point of view, character change, and other differences. These two are very similar but I’ll just point out the big details. Finally, the overall tone and mood of both pieces show us how different their purposes are. The tone of the book is eerily matter-of-fact, not giving much emotion. Mrs. Maloney acts without much emotion, and the story seems to move exceptionally quickly. Whereas in the film, characters show much more emotion, dramatizing the whole story much more than the book does. The contrasting atmospheres in each piece show, again, how the book’s purpose is to tell the story, and the movie’s is to entertain…

It gave exquisite details on how each individual part happened and how each character responded. Supporting my thesis, the novel was more intriguing than the movie. Each event was described clearly, whereas in the film many were left out or unspoken of. I feel as if the movie focused on just the main parts of the story, but in the book every little obstacle was written out. Therefore, I have given various examples as to why the book was better than the film, along with the major similarities and differences of the…

Why I preferred the book well to start with it gives lots of details instead of the movie. It does actually mean a lot if I like a book because I tend to be very picky about what I read. the book plot, story, theme, everything was so well done and thought out that once you start reading it, it is hard to put it down and stop reading. Reason why it is so hard to stop reading it well every chapter pretty much end with a cliffhanger. Great books like this one are very hard to come by.…

In the movie she learns of Zach’s arrest directly from his mother who is visiting the pink house, but in the book she answers the phone and the mother is on the other end crying. Also absent in the movie, but a huge part of the book, are the vigils for May and the long grieving process everyone goes through. The book version places a much larger impact on Mays death to the sisters, and lets the reader see the struggles they all go through because of it. One part of May’s death does make more sense in the movie version though, and that would be how Zach is arrested. In the book they know he is in the prison and can even visit him, but in the movie nobody knows where he has been taken or even if he’s alive.…

Janie’s arranged marriage, running off with Joe, her fallout with Joe, running off with Tea Cake, and the shooting were some main scenes that were kept in the movie. These are probably the most important parts of the storyline. I think I enjoyed the film more because I got to see the scenes get brought to life. I think the film could have been better if there was more attention given to the iconic little details of the book, such as the pear tree and Janie having straight…

“There’s nothing healthy about segregation” a quote from Michael Gargano. This statement is relevant to the book and movie “The Help” because during the 1960’s, when people were segregated by race, people thought it was normal to be separated. For example a character in the book and movie, Aibileen, a black maid that works hard for Mrs.Leefolt everyday and is mistreated because she is black, but she still keeps an amazing attitude and is great at her job. During the 1960’s many black women, like Aibileen, worked for white families. I have recently read the book and watched the movie “The Help” and there are many similar things from the book to movie, but there are also a few differences, an example of a similarity is the plot stayed the same…

In The Outsiders the movie and the book there are many differences and many similarities. 3 diffrences are Two-bit Mathews knife, chapter 12 and Greaser and Socs neighbourhoods. 3 similarities are the character's personalities, main incidents, many of the same conversations. There are lots of differences and similarities between the movie and the book; but the movie was more entertaining. Ironically due to the storyline; the book is better than the movie, because it is shows better description, character analysis, and it gets the point across to the reader to show what leads up to the main idea. The book is longer and has a lot more detail than the movie. Gone is the explanatory prologue, the siege at Cassie’s house during the third wave, her odyssey in the woods, most of the fallout from her gunshot wound and the bulk of the immensely appealing and very well-written common-sense internal monologues that make Cassie, well, Cassie…the first four waves themselves are hurriedly compressed into the film’s initial half-hour; and the denouement plays as rushed and perfunctory. (Cockrell)…

It seems an unfair view to expect a movie about a book to be exactly the same down to every single detail. Communities of fans will always find something wrong with a story, for it has “failed” to match expectation. Books are a place where someone can be dragged into the story and forget about everything else for a short while. Movies do the exact same thing, except it is seen as an easier way than books for a lot of people. Ignoring obvious differences (such as the fact that one is in picture form, and the other is in words), movies and books may not be so different after all.…
