The inequal right to share society’s resource is a concept shown when Farhad, the persian man is refused the right to buy a gun at first by the shopkeeper, who calls him discriminatory words such as “Osama” referencing a terrorist. Anthony, a black criminal is shown to take the bus towards the end of the film, and realizes that everyone on the public transport is an ethnic minority and no Caucasian person is seen to be riding the bus. At the beginning of the film, Anthony and Peter are seen walking out of the restaurant and Anthony complains that the waitress in the restaurant, who was also black, ignored the two of them. Anthony states that this was likely due to the belief that black people do not tip, which is a stereotype formed of the African-American minority also believed by the people within that same minority. Due to this belief, Anthony engages in affirmative action to achieve equalitarian pluralism within the black community. Daniel the locksmith is assumed to be a member of a gang by Jean because of his appearance which consists of prison tattoos, bald head, and saggy pants. Crash breaks down this stereotype as Daniel is later depicted as a responsible father who has a daughter and wife at home. Jean also discriminates her housekeeper as she believes that Maria is incapable of working efficiently and doing what she is asked to do but later regrets her words when she realizes that Maria is her only close friend. The Asian women who is stereotyped by Ria the detective as a bad driver is later shown to be rushing to the hospital to aid her injured husband. Anthony and Peter are seen to be dangerous by Jean mainly due to their skin colour when she huddles closer to her husband on the street which is a stereotype that proves to be true when the thieves steal Rick’s wallet and jack their car. The irony is the concept of self-fulfilling prophecy that is evident in this example because instead of trying to break down the black stereotype, Anthony and Peter instead adhere to it and commit a crime against a white couple. Officer Hansen shoots Peter in the spur of the moment when he believes him to be pulling out a weapon only to realize it was a statue of Saint Christopher. This shows how the self-fulfilling prophecy of the African-American minority
