Movie And Book Differences

Improved Essays
Differences in movies from books sometimes change the theme of a movie. One of the main themes in the book being that the desire to save ourselves sometimes takes over, and that in dire situations humans do not make logical decisions. Whereas the theme of the movie is that never giving up will soon lead you to the answer you are searching for. By changing the perspective the theme of the movie is different from the book and changed the story drastic. Since the book flashes through story after story we begin to see how many different times people's’ decisions are not always the best choice around the globe as they are trying to survive. We see parents killing their own children because they think it is the right thing to do. Sharon

The movie To Kill a Mockingbird, based on the novel written by Harper Lee showed the life of a child during the Great Depression and captured the theme of innocence taken away by evil. In most cases the book is always better than the film because life lessons are taken away in greater detail and are much easier to apply to a reader's life. Many movies stray from the book as did To Kill a Mockingbird, but also captured the scenes not shown in the book. Unlike the book, the movie had taken away the relationship that Boo Radley had with the children. One part of the book which was not shown in the movie was Mrs. Maudie's house fire when Boo Radley had draped a blanket over Scout’s shoulders while Jem and Scout were standing in the cold.…

There seems to be nothing better than a good book or a good movie. If that is the case then how come there never seems to be a good movie based on a book? Could it be because there was not any actor who could match the description of the character perfectly? Maybe it was because there was so much information in the book they were able to take away a few details to help with time management for the movie. However, there is a difference to editing for time management and changing the storyline.…

The story of the kite runner starts off as the main character in America talking to a person he knew as a little kid in Afghanistan. Both the movie and the book show this, but the movie itself has this scene longer as the man is shown with a wife and a new published book then gets a call. The book just starts off as the man talking over the phone then the flash back happens to show the past and even that has events scattered (jumbled) around where the book had events a, b and c but the movie has b, c, a and e. The movie skips event d because in the book it talks of Baba’s leg and how it is twisted, making it so the man cannot walk right.…

Often movies are made out of blockbuster books. Sometimes the movies do a good job of capturing the most important moments from the book and presenting them in the movie. Unfortunately, some movies do not always accurately depict the books they represent with full details. There are many reasons why a movie depiction of a book fails not least of which is because they are only given a couple of hours to tell the whole story in the book. A book is able to go in depth with the character’s emotions and experiences while a movie based on the book is limited by the length of the film.…

In “The Landlady”, Billy Weaver is lured into a seemingly normal bed and breakfast by an old lady who, despite her gentle and unthreatening appearance, wants to kill him. It is a story about how those with cruel intent may take advantage of those who are innocent and naive. Although the book and the movie can be arguably similar if generalized, there are many differences that may change the way a reader/viewer may grasp the concept of the story. Since a movie and book cannot be exactly the same, the film version is bound to have things that differ from the text. One example of how the book develops the development of the story is with the setting.…
