Starting from the beginning and at number five. In the movie we don’t get to see a surprising scene from the book. In the book, we read that after volunteering for tribute she is greeted by friends and family. One person that meets her, is peeta’s father. His father greets Katniss with cookies and a promise stating that he will protect katniss’s mother and sister. This meeting between Katniss and Peeta’s father adds something to Peeta’s and katniss’s connection that we don’t get to see between them in the movie.

In the movie we see Seneca who is the game creator and Snow who is the leader of the capitol have their own moments onscreen. This gives us more time to dwell on Seneca’s awesome facial hair, but more importantly to get a taste of what President Snow is genuinely capable of early on. There’s one thing for certain: with Snow at the helm, there is no way life in the districts will ever be a bed of roses.
At number one we have one of the biggest differences we see throughout the whole movie. District 2 career tribute Cato actually gets a shot at humanity before he falls at the Cornucopia. This is a tough moment for the audience. When Cato realizes all he has lived for is worthless, it is more difficult to root for Katniss contributing to his ultimate demise. It may be a pity arrow that ultimately kills Cato, but Katniss has to shoot a well-placed arrow, first.
Overall, by keeping us out of Katniss’ head and by giving us multiple outlets to really immerse audiences and help them to understand the world of Panem, I found the movie to be much more enjoyable than the
