One Simple Decision
Angst was the only feeling I could recount for that moment. On this bright and this exceedingly sunny day August day, I was alone and desperate, the sheer awareness of lose throbbed in my head. I felt as if I had nothing to cleave to. I had no clue how my day would go, and how much one action could change my life.
I was sitting in the car on my way to my first day of eighth grade with my dad. My dad told me that eighth grade was the year that I would appreciate most in my schooling years. He explained that segregating myself wouldn’t improve my loneliness. My dad knew that I was terrified to meet new friends. My best friend, Zach, had departed for high school, he was the entirety

You okay?”
I decided since it had come up to tell him, “My only friend, Zach, graduated last year and I don’t really know how to make new friends.”
He smiled and happily exclaimed, “But you’re my friend now.”
The words felt like they had pulled a substantial burden off my back, they made me think so much better of myself. I felt as if I could jump up and down and start screaming for joy. He called his friend over who also liked the youtuber. Kyle introduced her, “Cameron, this is Sarah Tinker.”

I waited for her to speak, there was an extremely awkward silence. She finally began to talk, “Hi, as he said I’m Sarah, How be you?”
I was very confused with what she just said I gave her a confused look. As I contemplated the phrase, I finally understood, she had used be instead of are. “I’m better than 20 minutes ago, how about you?”

It’s very strange how one experience or choice you make in your life can change the rest of your life that follows that event, would you then in turn change these decisions you made. Such as your what if your mom conceived you not on the knowing basis. What if everyone was telling her not to because she was to be a single mom and that’s not a world a child should be born into, but then what if she challenged this belief that she grew up with. This then in turn affected all her choices later in life, but then vice versa what if she didn't challenge this belief and stuck with what she knew. This may be of the more extreme choices in life that some people must make but we all have that certain time in our life that comes where we must break away and make…

As a child growing up in Rhode Island, the smallest state in the Union, the idea of a vast planet brimming with civilization and culture was more like something out of a fairy tale than it was reality. So, when my father announced that we would be leaving the country to go to Scotland, the home of his and my ancestors, my world began to expand at a rapid pace. This trip could not have been timed more perfectly. The summer of 2007 marked the end of fourth grade, my first year at Saint Mary Academy Bay View.…

Decision is the word I chose to explain my experiences of how I became and who I am. I want to be different from my brother, uncles and the rest of the family. I want to be an example for my Dad and Mom, even if my decisions are hard to take, because I can remember the first conversation with my Mom about dropping out of school and explaining why I have to do that, how I was going to deal with that decision and asking her to support my decision so she can help me explain it to my Dad. Well, the conversation with my Mom was so easy always, never forget how Mom is so understandable she always help me alot…

“State your name, age, and why you are here,” A short sigh escaped my mouth, obviously bored as I gently twirled a small piece of my hair. “Aria,” I replied simply, avoiding eye contact with the supervisor and fellow group mates. “I'm 12 and I'm here for killing my foster mother,” I could feel the tension in the room as the morbid words escaped my mouth and I noticed the girl next to me stiffen and scoot away.…

We all listened to the same bands, loved the same teen heartthrob, and all had a similar personality. It took losing a core group of friends of mine transitioning into freshman year to show me that it’s okay to be your own person. I will say freshman year was a huge struggle for me to go through without being friends with the people that I had grown closest to in the 8th grade and years prior to 9th grade, but in the long run it has benefitted me more than I could have ever imagined that year. I now am not afraid to be alone sometimes and not always hang out with a group of people or one person every weekend. I’m okay with spending time by myself just relaxing in my room or grabbing some lunch at bread co by myself when I can.…

On the last second to last Sunday of August, I packed away the last box of my possessions. Everything I held dear to in the world was packed into the trunk of my mom’s car in cigarette boxes from my sister’s work. It somehow felt wrong that 18 years’ worth of memories and collections and life were so easy to gather up and ship off. Yet this transition somehow felt oddly fitting. It’s comforting to know that picking up and starting over can be so easy.…

A Turning Point Many events occur during a person’s lifetime, some heal the soul and others leave an unpleasant scar. Either way, by time, all of those events come together to give that person a memorable experience that will not be forgotten. I believe that everyone has the ability to achieve happiness. Now, I say happiness but happiness isn’t always easy to achieve. When something very harsh happens in your life like when a bird loses their wings, you start to feel hopeless and very unnecessary to this world. Just at that time, you have trouble moving on, just like how a truck will when it’s stuck on a hole. Well let me tell you a story where I know that at that point you have been proven wrong.…
