Social Media is a film created to tell the story of how Facebook evolved and the legal aspects that Mark Zuckerburg was entangled in. Never had seen movie before, my reaction to the film was taken back. I am a Facebook user and never knew how the social media phenomenon ever came about. This film shed light on the struggles Mark Zuckerburg, the Winklevoss Twins, and Eduardo Saverin encountered when trying to kick start their company. The main message of the film is to take an idea and run with it and innovate the up and coming social world. I agree with the message in that you should take an idea and use it to its full potential, although, I do not particularly agree with the way Zuckerburg went about it. I definitely think he could have handled the way he went about things differently, but sometimes, as humans, we don’t make the best decision. Instead of “stealing” the twin’s idea of the Harvard social network, Zuckerburg should have let the twin go through with their plan and then Mark could promote his idea when the idea died out. I do not think the message of this film was conveyed in a way that was easy to point out because it was not direct like some of the other films we viewed in class.
