Movie Analysis: On The Way To School

Many luxuries are granted to the citizens of the U.S. such as technology that helps us get through the day. These luxuries are not available to people in other countries and I believe that if I had to step into one of the four children in the movie On the Way to School I could handle living Carlos’s life. Carlos lives in Argentina and is 11 years old which is near my age, but that is the only thing we have slightly in common. We live completely different lives and Carlos does not have all the luxuries I have. Out of the all the other kids Carlos is the most modern of the four his clothes are similar to mine and he lives in a small house made up of bricks. Despite the differences in the smaller aspects of our lives I believe that we do have similarities no matter how few there are. This is why I believe I would be able to handle stepping into his shoes and having to live his life. …show more content…
In the video it focused mostly on Carlos routine when it comes to getting ready for school and in his life he doesn’t have the technology or the things that make my life easy. For one he doesn’t have access to a car and instead rides a horse to school. He travels 18 km in an hour and a half with his sister on the horse with him. Then while he has to travel all that distance all I do is have one of my parents drive me to school which is about a mile in distance and takes five minutes to cover that

The Graduate was a compelling film that portrayed the cultural and social differences evident throughout the film, as can be seen through the generational, and how Dustin Hoffman’s character acts towards each. This movie came out towards the end of the 1960’s when the social/cultural structure was beginning to change. Children didn’t want to do what their parents told them just because the said so, they wanted to do something that they saw meaning in. This can be seen as Dustin Hoffman constantly tells all the adults that he’s not too sure what his plans are for his future. His willingness to relax and decipher what it is that he truly wants to do shows a subtle social/cultural shift, because when his parents were around his age they most…

Biutiful was a pretty ok movie (minus the inappropriate scenes) it had a very serious tone to it. It was a sad film to watch at parts like where Uxbal lived in a very crapped apartment with a daughter around age 10 maybe and a son around the age 8 and that he has prostate cancer and will not survive much longer and that there mother has a unstable and self-destructive behavior. I have found the part on where Uxbal and the kids stayed with the mom for a while then the mom was being a little abusive to the son, so then Uxbal and the mom had a fight then resulted in Uxbal leaving with the kids very disappointing because the whole thing could have been avoided. I have found it interesting that out of all of the jobs Uxbal could work at he work…

I found all this more after the first time that I watched “Sunset Boulevard”, the 1950 film about love, deception, greed, and the inevitable passing of time. Upon my first time viewing the film I found myself on three roller coasters. I kept thinking to myself, “am I the Desmond?” The one stuck in the past, full of regret and longing for an idea of love that I desperately clung on to.…

It was a time Americans embraced conservatism, mainly guided by Ronald Reagan, as well as an era of professionalism. The poor in American Society are the victims of the social theory referred to as CONFLICT THEORY. The theory explains that the social STRATIFICTION SYSTEM is not functioning properly and the rich benefit more from the governmental decisions at the expense of the disadvantaged, those who rightly need the assistance. This theory is shockingly apparent in the Frontline documentary “Poor Kids”. This film follows the lives of three families’ struggling to deal with life’s most crippling situations the best way they can. The film demonstrates that being poor is not always a question of a PERSONAL PROBLEM related to the ABUSE of drugs or alcohol, but of a SOCIAL PROBLEM with unemployment, lack of job opportunities, and in this particular film, recession.…
