This type of woman would be unheard of in this time period as it was a known fact that woman were unable to maintain a house and family without the help of a man. The difference between the movie and the actual history is most likely a result of the movie being released in the year 1953. Between the time period depicted in the movie and the release year, women’s suffrage had taken considerable advances. Women were allowed the vote and enjoy the same freedoms of men that were unheard of only fifty-year prior.
