Throughout the entire movie we see the separation between predator and prey even though they are living in a united society. The audience is lead to believe that predators are black and prey is white. There are many issues that are very pertinent today that this movie addresses. Although everyone is viewed as equal, subconsciously prey is innocent and predators are savage. One of the most racist scenes in Zootopia directly relates to discrimination prior to the Civil Rights Movement. Judy is often referred to as being overly emotional and naive which are characteristics commonly associated with females. Nick even makes a comment about Judy being a bad driver which is also unjustly attributed to women. Judy was not the only one being discriminated in the workplace. Assistant Mayor Bellwether described her job to Judy as, “more of a glorified secretary” (Dawn Bellwether, Zootopia). Even though she held a high position in government, Assistant Mayor Bellwether was still not able to show her full potential because of discrimination. Luckily, Judy was able to take the sexism as a challenge to work harder whereas Bellwether just became evil. Sexism in the workplace is a major issue women are still battling today. Although we have come far, like the women in Zootopia we are still not being treated as equals to men. Judy is a great role model for young girls watching Zootopia because of her persistence and unwillingness to give up while others consistently put her
