Batman Presentation

Good morning. I will be presenting, today, on Batman.

For those of you who do not know, Batman's real name is Bruce
Wayne. He is the CEO of Wayne Enterprises, a company which was founded by ancestors of the Wayne family in the 17th Century. He first appears in issue 27, published by Detective Comics. After a re-launch of DC Comics' entire line in 2011, called New 52, Batman's first appearance is in Justice League issue 1.

Firstly, I will be focusing on the origins of Batman in the comics and in the film. Batman is said to be one of the gloomiest and darkest Detective Comics superheroes. This is probably because his parents were murdered in front of him when he was a child. Although his first appearance is in Detective Comics issue 27, his origin is only told in issue 33 and then expanded on in issue 47. After his parents' death, Bruce Wayne decides that he will rid the city

These two friends are quite different, but regularly join forces. The similarities between them are that both are male, and both are fictional DC Comics superheroes. Both are members of the Justice League. They also both have a photographic memory. Batman is human, while Superman is an alien from the planet Krypton. Batman has human-like abilities such as martial arts skills and extreme fitness. Superman, on the other hand, has insanely impossible powers such as heat vision, super breath, flight, and an invulnerability to vacuums. It is therefore quite obvious that Batman's weakness would be a lack of super-human powers. Superman's weaknesses include red and green kryptonite, as well as Sonic, Psychic, and Magic attacks. Even though these two characters are so different, they seem to work together well, as in 2003, DC Comics started publishing a monthly comic book series for them. There is even a film called Batman vs. Superman, which will be released next

In a time, where hundreds of movies based around a hero are produced and released each year one would think that the medium would have to change rapidly in order to keep its audience, but no matter how different they seem most all share the basis of the archetypical hero. One story that exemplifies this is the story of Bruce Wayne in the beloved movie Batman Begins. This movie portrays the story of Wayne as he transforms from a semi-pampered rich kid, into a symbol of justice that makes the criminals of Gotham fear the dark. All throughout the story, the distinct steps of the hero’s journey can be seen.…

In order for Bruce Wayne to implement his own brand of justice and provide Gotham with the hope necessary for their development as a society, he had to essentially sacrifice his own ignorance to the world after being stripped of his childhood. Despite escaping death, Bruce Wayne had undergone a "rebirth" through the teachings of Ra's Al Gul which provides the hero with newly found knowledge and courage that would allow him to defeat the darkness that has plagued Gotham throughout the years. Due to his newly discovered abilities, Batman dedicated both his mind and body to others by battling a variety of villains in order to ensure that the people of Gotham would have the opportunities of hope and happiness that he failed to truly experience. Bruce Wayne had followed the archetype of both a hero and a victim of God because he chose to embrace his own tragedy by becoming the legendary Batman in order to protect and ultimately guide others from outside…

Chris Sims himself writes, “Batman’s entire idea of Crime, his entire perception of what it means to break the rules set down by society, descends from exactly one moment: his parents’ murder.” (Sims). And I agree with this theory, because this is what makes the character an individual, with his personal reasons to be, who he is. This also shows, that some weaknesses can be developed into…

Symbolism is another significant portion in Bruce Wayne’s life as Batman. Freud would say that not only were Bruce’s dreams forms of symbolism, but also, more significantly and recognizably, Batman’s Batsuit and name. As previously stated, Bruce came up with the batsuit when seeing a swarm of bats. He then decided on the name because he felt that villains would also fear bat, as they are a symbol of the night. Another form of analysis that Freud could make about Batman and his life is by using his idea of the doctrine of opposites.…

Looking from the other side how come Batman still remains to be such a fascinating superhero whose fame isn’t fading regardless not possessing the superhuman powers? So, naturally :-), I decided to compare these two superheroes in several categories and then to decide which one is better. 1. Round 1-The Technology; Every true fan of Batman knows that this superhero possesses a very wide range of the most various hi-technology equipment, due to the fact that Bruce Wayne is a wealthy man, which money can be put to good use when fighting off Superman. Well, looking from the other side, Superman has the mighty kryptonite, despite that fact in a classic adaptation of the comic book “Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 2”, we actually have the opportunity to see that Batman was farther than able to go toe-to-toe with Superman by using its super- powered mechanical…

And through every meeting between the two, you see neither one is fully able to overcome the other and defeat each other, because they are one and the same, and to defeat the other would mean to lose a part of themselves. The Batman is the conscious self, the self that is shown to the society, the self that others in society want to be like. And the Joker is the inferior part of the person, the unconscious, the part that one chooses to ignore because of the fear it may cause to know. Bruce Wayne considers Batman indestructible, which is why he cuts Batman out of feeling any emotion and forces him to be a logical person. And the Joker forces him to break those rules and face his fear.…
