Movie Ad Analysis Essay Movie posters derive in a wide variety of styles. They are used to advertise an upcoming film and to add to the anticipation and excitement for its release date, which will boost the cinema attendance. Most movie posters have an appealing representation or slogans that appeals to the specific audience, while the others are just trying to grab everyone’s attention. However, we all know that they have something in common; they all have an eye-catching device. Movie posters can be almost found everywhere like the movie theatre, the mall, bus stations, on the sides of the busses, magazines and on the Internet. These posters are often trying to do one thing, persuading the individuals to spend their money on the film. In June 15, 2016 The Refinery Design, which is a marketing and advertising design industry, released a movie ad for Mechanic Resurrection directed by Dennis Gansel. The film poster was created to appeal to the audience who are mainly into action, crime, thriller, and romantic movies. When looking at this poster the first thing that caught my eyes was the contract killer (Jason Statham). We can assume that he is a contract killer based on the clothes he is wearing: black rain jacket, with a black watch on his left wrist. The watch symbolizing the specific time frame he has to kill the person by. Jason Statham is also holding a big sniper rifle gun is his hand, maybe targeting someone. The designer uses the color black and the gun to demonstrate the movie genre. The bottom half of his outfit consists of pictures of the other actors and actresses in the movie. The first picture symbolized on his bodysuit is a girl, maybe who he is in love with. I can assume that this movie might also have a hint of
