Book Report The first section of the book Mountains Beyond Mountains was titled Dokte Paul and this section was chapters one through four. Dokte Paul stands for a healer or physician so essentially it means Docter Paul. Paul Farmer is who this book is all about. The book is about Paul Farmer and the part of his life when he tried to start a movement to give proper care to everyone in Haiti. Paul Farmer is a thirty five year old doctor who graduated from Harvard medical school and also has a Ph.D in anthropology. And the definition of solidarity is, unity or agreement of feeling or action, especially among individuals with a common interest; mutual support within a group. Paul Farmer brought both physical and spiritual relief to the poor people of Haiti. This approach, called "pragmatic solidarity," emphasized helping the Haitians' physical needs. In spite of the fact that Farmer provided them with a freshly discovered trust, this trust intensified when the Haitians began to trust Farmer and get results because of their medications. Paul Farmer could live forever and had unlimited resources he would cure every single planet by himself if he had too. Dr. Paul Farmer did everything could while he was able to help improve health around the world. Unfortunately he did not have enough time to convince the world to follow him and treat every single person around the world. Dr. Paul Farmer did not have the resources or the help necessary to even make a dent in improving global health. Some people may say that Dr. Paul Farmer was wasting too much time, money, and resources on people who would die soon anyway or that they did not deserve it all that treatment. Dr. Paul Farmer completely disagreed and started a movement to give every single human being the human right of health. We have enough resources across the world to treat every single person in the world but we are choosing not to because why? There are many reasons but we need to stop giving excuses and follow Dr. Paul Farmer's lead and give people their basic human right and increase global health as much as
