Revenge for the Loved
Chapter 1
Everyone loses someone they care about at one point or another, but I never thought I would lose them all so quickly.
Ear splitting grinding and blood curdling screams filled my ears as I felt a strong impact on the right side of the car. It forced us over the edge of the hill, the car rolling roof over chassis, over and over. My head hit the dash, the windshield shattered, and the roof crushed down on top of me. My adrenaline was running so high, I didn't feel any pain from being thrown around the front seat. When we finally stopped at the bottom of the hill, I immediately squinted toward the driver’s side.
It took a moment for my eyes to refocus, but what I saw made me snap. "Ray!" I reached over with one hand

I'll tell you what: bring me a Mountain Dew and I might consider calming down." A minute later, I got my pop and thankfully, the idiots in white coats left me alone.
Kostya spoke about five minutes later with a slight hesitant tone. "I'll bring you your homework tomorrow after school."
I stared straight ahead. "I'm going to school tomorrow, no matter what anyone says. I am getting out of here." Laying here and not doing anything will do nothing for me except test my sanity. I have to be out doing something. "So," I said to my friend, "what do you think we'll be doing in biology tomorrow?"
After discussing natural disasters for twenty minutes, I felt a jolting pain in my right leg. "Ow!" I yelped as a wet tongue spread slobber all over my face. "Damn it, Goliath. Be more careful, will you?" Tears welled up in my eyes as my German Shepard licked my bandages and nudged my chin, all the while wagging his tail. Recalling that Ray had given him to me, a tear flowed down my cheek.
The thought of crying was a sign of weakness to me, but the sorrow of losing my beloved Ray was too strong to fend off. I just let the tears come as Goliath settled himself between my legs, his head resting on my stomach. I sat up and buried my face in his neck, my hands gripping his fur so tight that they hurt. "Don't leave me, okay Goliath?" I

I grew up in a neighborhood where laughter, smiles, happiness, hope and police presence was just as rare as finding a four-leaf clover. Naturally, given the circumstances, I grew up witnessing fights and listening to hip hop music, where the theme of a song often talked about getting revenge on a certain individual or group. Tupac Shakur once said “Revenge is like the sweetest joy” and until not too long ago, it was a quote by which I lived by. Much like Hamlet, who got told by his father's ghost to get revenge on his killer and avenge him, I would often times get influenced by my friends or my surroundings to commit some actions that would be undoubtedly deemed as wrong in order to get such revenge. But as I grew older, matured and went through…

The loss of a loved one will make someone go through many if not all the stages of grief. In How to Touch a Bleeding Dog, by Rod Kessler there is an indirect message behind the text, in which a man has become a widower with his wife Beths dog as a remembrance of her. Despite how much the man seemed to love his wife, he does not feel the same about her dog that she has left behind. The dog plays a minor role is the story, as it is more directed towards Beth. It is obvious to the reader that the narrator has not yet accepted reality, gone beyond through the idea that the dog to the man is more of a burden then a companion; a “responsibility”, and seen through when the dog gets into an accident, becoming the description of loneliness and the effect of loss.…

It was hard to remember the dog Seeley had been before she became ill. A happy girl with curly, silver hair that relished each morning and delighted in each night. We knew she had been through quite a lot in her life, telling from the moon-like cataract clouding her left eye and the swollen nipples that hung lowly from her stomach. She enjoyed cuddling and seldom barked, but did often make weird scoffing noises when she was excited. She was our baby.…

“I’ve always had a knack for school... It was as if school were a vast machine and I a cog perfectly formed to fit it… not that my education was always easy. There's a Chinese saying that the fates are winds that blow through our lives from every angle, urging us along the paths of time. Those who are strong-willed may fight the storm and possibly choose their own road, while the weak must go where they are blown. I say I have not been so much pushed by winds as pulled forward by the force of my decisions.”…
