Stratovolcanoes have low slopes, but the summit is steep and this causes the volcano to rise in an upward direction (Figure 4).
The last eruption of Mount Vesuvius was in March 18th 1944 which was during the Second World War. This eruption caused minor damage and only killed 26 people on the day (Figure 6). The main reason why Mount Vesuvius is well known was because before AD 79, it erupted and destroyed most of Pompeii and killed over 16,000 people. This eruption is known as the most infamous eruptions of all time (Figure 5).
Mount Vesuvius has erupted many times in the past and has damaged many near cities and killed many people. The government have strictly created the red zone (figure 7) which is 12 kilometre radius of people who stand little chance of survival when Mount Everest next erupts. The government have said that if there is a chance that it might erupt the people in the red zone will be evacuated in 72 hours or less. Naples is also a worry since burning ash from an explosion could hit there anytime. Scientists also said that people were scared and evacuated their houses without the government telling
