Thomas Jefferson was born on April 13, 1743 to Peter and Jane Jefferson. He married Martha Skelton on January 1, 1772. They had six children; Martha, Jane, Peter, Mary, Lucy, and Lucy Elizabeth. Only Martha and Mary survived into adulthood. In the year of 1776, Jefferson became the draftsman of the Declaration of Independence. He went on to become the governor of Virginia, minister of France, secretary of state, and, finally, America’s third president. Thomas Jefferson served two terms of presidency. Theodore Roosevelt was born on October 27, 1858, Theodore Roosevelt Sr., and his wife Martha. He held several positions in the New York government before becoming the 26th president of America in 1901. He served two presidential terms, before leaving the office in 1909. He married Alice Lee, who died at the age of 22. He later married Edith Carow, and had six children; Alice, Kermit, Theodore Jr., Ethel, Archibald, and Quentin. Theodore Roosevelt died on January 6, 1919, at the age of sixty. He represented the development of America, and was dedicated to the Mount Rushmore monument July 2, 1939. The wildlife near Mount Rushmore is very diverse. For example, the Rocky Mountain goat live for around twelve to fifteen years, and usually feed on shrubs, grasses, and lichen. Another interesting animal is the Mule deer. They have a lifespan of about nine to eleven years. They usually eat shrubs and weeds. The least chipmunk also lives near Mount Rushmore.
