These layers are very important for protection, so you do not freeze. You can’t climb a mountain without protecting your head, hands, and feet. For your head/face you will need two ski hats, a sun hat, and a hat. If your body is wrapped up and your head is left uncovered, you will lose about fifty percent of your body heat. An uncovered head can trigger your blood vessels to constrict. Even if you are wearing gloves, warm socks, and boots, it can leave your hands and feet feeling cold. Heavy down mittens, heavy climbing gloves, hand warmers, light gloves. You’re going to need many pairs of climbing socks, double climbing boots, over boots, and down booties.
