The teams that were on Mount Everest the day of the blizzard were a Taiwanese team of 13. A South African team of 21. A nine-man assemble team of British. An American team on 6. Lastly a 12-person IMAX expedition and two large teams of guided clients. The IMAX team was David Breashears and Rob Hall's team. Rob Hall was one of the people that were stuck in the blizzard. While Rob Hall set out to summit. The day dawned perfectly so they should get a good chance of summiting the next morning. But, the storm rolled in that night. Rob had set up a radio at camp 2. On his way up, Rob met his friend Doug Hansen. Doug wasn't looking to good. Rob had summited a little after 3 o’clock pm. Rob decided to wait for Doug just in case he needed help. Doug got to Rob and summited at 4 o’clock pm.
Rob tried to helped Doug down the mountain.But, on their way down the became in need of oxygen. Rob tried to reach out to David Breashears at camp 3. But he couldn’t. Luckily Mike Groom overheard his broadcast at camp 2. Groom had told Rob that there was two full oxygen tanks on the South summit. But, Doug had collapsed on the top of Hillary Step.
