I know a lot of people don't like school ,I sure don't and the number one reason students resent school is because the classes they're being forced to take aren't arousing their interests. In this essay I will explain how I think schools could function better and have a higher rate of graduates. Schools should give students classes based on what they want to do as a job. Let's say I wanted to be a politician I could have several classes based off of politics like classes such as debate and politics. If I wanted to be a marine biologist I could have classes such as biology zoology and marine biology. And so on and so forth many students would thrive mentally and educationally. If people liked their classes they would like school right? People don't like their classes because they aren't interested in geometry and precalculus. I personally think our education should be based off of the career choice we want to pursue after high …show more content…
If we based our educational system off of our career choice there would be less kids failing classes. Every year 1.2 million students drop out of high school. if students got to pick the classes that interest them there would be less students dropping out of school. The school system should be improved to benefit the students not the state. The state lays out all these standards and benchmarks but for what reason? The government passed a law called“ No Child Left Behind” which makes each state set standards that students must meet. I Think the No Child Left Behind law is a joke because kids are still failing. The career based school system could change that. Along with career based education schools should also be teaching students things that could benefit them later in life such as how to do taxes. There is many things schools could be teaching us that their not if they want us to succeed in life they should be trying any and all

Lyndon B. Johnson once said that “Education is not a problem. Education is an opportunity.” Education has always been a way for children to expand their knowledge, and expand their minds as well. However, it has been brought to the attention of many, that education is now a way to force ideals down the throats of knowledge thirsty children. In trying to fit in standardized tests, teachers and schools have lost sight of the true purpose of education: to teach young people the rights and responsibilities of citizens.…

Firstly, schools eliminate qualities that makes every student unique by “dulling” their minds and by in some cases putting students under dress codes that are too strict. Schools “dull” students by giving them problems to solve and then telling them that there is only one way to do those problems; by telling students that there is only one way to find the answer then students are taught to not think critically and this results in them being not very smart. The point of creating students who cannot think critically is that they end up being dependent on others and do not gain any leadership skill, this results in a society where most people only know how to follow and not to lead. Schools gives each student a long list of classes that they need in order to graduate from high school, this “dulls” them by not giving them much room to choose their own paths of learning. While you can argue that even though schools give students the opportunity to choose the order in which they take the required classes and the opportunity to choose certain optional classes; the fact is that the classes that are required to take fills up the majority of each students schedule.…

Elements of Education Is everyone enrolled in an elementary or secondary school getting a quality education? How much of what students are learning even stays with them into adulthood? In fact, the things that do stay with us and help us in our everyday lives, no matter what we choose as our career path, are seldom taught in most schools. Classes can become monotonous bore where only those with great memories and rigorous study habits succeed.…

Newer students and future generations to participate in school should be able to know anything that they want to know. Students should be offered classes that have recently taken off of the school schedule. Classes such as history and English should be highly focused on because of how many classes and required information that they have taken away from out students. Students should be able to learn about everything that has occurred in our history, how we have adapted, how we have been taught, what we have been taught, they importance of what it means to be in this world, how to properly use our diminishing resources, how to build communities, how to properly handle money, how to sustain a healthy life etc. But instead we are removing this knowledge and cramming it all in a small amount of time so the school can have a positive reputation.…

School is the beginning of our adventure through life. It not only teaches us the mandatory lessons needed but also ones that stick to us throughout life. Whether it was that one extraordinary teacher or the one everyone hated, students would still learn and use it to their advantage. Unfortunately, this was the mindset of teenagers/ young adult’s years ago; now the students of today aren’t understanding the value of their education and how far it can take them.…

Students have been taking classes that have no relationship to what they want to study. If a student were working, for example, working at a restaurant or fast food place the school was giving the student half a credit for working. Students should not be getting a half a credit for something they are leaning nothing about just life skills which everyone learns on their own. Students should be able to decide what classes they want and enjoy there courses and not be…

“We expect our senators and representatives to act as spokespersons for the different economic, ethnic, racial, religious, occupational, and political interest in our state and district” (Vogler,p.6). As a democratic member in the House of Representative we play a major role in the government. We are not as big as the president or Vice President but electing the right ones will make a big difference on how the people are represented. There are 435 members and 5 delegates that make up the House of Representatives (Dexter, p10). The amount of Representatives depends on the size of population a state has.…

People all around the world may not be made for a life crammed with schoolwork and hour-long lectures performed by educators. How the public chooses to perceive and tackle life should be the prerogative of oneself. While it is arguable that people should strive to complete their education, everybody should do what is logical for themselves. Students should not be required to remain in public school until they receive a high school diploma or a GED because people may have difficult financial, home, or personal situations.…

Forced Courses in Schools are Detrimental to a Student’s Learning It is not hard to find a student that claims to hate high school. Students may just dislike getting up before 10:00 four or five days out of the week and having to do mountains of homework, but there are also the students who hate high schools because of the lack of fine arts classes or the fact that they are forced to take classes on subjects they don’t need or want, as the subject will not be useful or pertain to that student’s chosen career path. When a child does not like and or do well in school, the student is labeled as disorderly, anti-social, lackluster, or even said to be “learning disabled”.…

Education today, in my opinion, is not doing what it should be doing to ensure that America is actually living up to what it is known for...the land of opportunities. I believe that education should be about an empowering experience that helps students discover their passions, fosters their critical thinking skills, promotes an environment that accepts diversity, and encourages students to apply to skills to the outside world. This should be he purpose of American public schooling because it will help society adapt to changing times and encourage the growth of a well-rounded, modern, and accepting culture which in the long run help foster peace and equality. I am sure that there are many schools in America that try and foster all of things,…

The number one issues we have in schools are all the pointless classes we are forced to take instead of taking the right classes we need to know when we graduate high school and go off on our own. Why are we being taught these classes when we are not going to use them in our lives in the future it is a waste of time and knowledge there is simply no point. When we graduate high school and go off on our own lots of students have to figure things out on their own it has been said many times it would have been better on learning these things in school instead of taking useless classes they don’t need. We are acknowledging different subjects why don’t they teach us things that are happening in the world now instead of in the past or about the…

To be honest, I hate school with a passion, yet I love learning as much as living. As a child, schooling created a feeling of loneliness and sadness that echoed throughout my life, even now. I didn’t meet the standard levels for literacy and was separated from my classmates in elementary school for special reading and writing classes. Also the lack of freedom to say and move the way I wished to, and the rebellion that stemmed out of me in middle school due to these limitations. Finally, the conforming in high school to appease my mother, friends that drove me over the edge, yet even now I feel the same bull-crap in college.…

Social Promotion is a very controversial topic amongst all social classes. Advancement of ones child to the next level should be an accomplishment of the previous grades requirements and not a mandatory movement into the next grade level. This single action teaches students many things about life and one of them is there is no requirement for success, its merely given to anyone that shows up wanting it. There are many underlining reasons behind why a school would or would not promote this educational style but those that promote it in my opinion do not have the best interests of the students in mind. This is a cop out for an education system to hold any kind of a standard.…
