The defined dictionary definition of a motto is “A short sentence or phrase chosen as encapsulating the beliefs or ideals guiding an individual, family, or institution.” A motto is used to explain or guide someone to their full potential. In addition, many motto’s set a positive tone that contributes to the person’s overall mood. For example, the motto “Just be yourself” means being yourself is what makes you unique. A motto that I find inspirational is “If you can dream it, you can do it” by Walt Disney. To begin, the definition of the constructive motto, “If you can dream it, you can do it” means that anything you desire to achieve in life can be achieved through diligence and tenacity. This saying is widely known by individuals. In addition, this quote is the face of the Disney Corporation, which is a multi-billion dollar company. In fact, I have traveled to Disney World in Orlando, Florida numerous times. Throughout the wanderlust, there is a supply of inspiration. To begin, Walt Disney’s inspiration began when he sketched a mouse with soft white gloves and cozy yellow slippers. From there, Disney's ideas sprung to become the multi-billion corporation that it is. From the various trips to Disney World, I have found the idea of innovation important, due to the idea of evolution and ways to evolve as a society. The motto “If you can dream it, you can do it” expresses the thought of innovation and following your dreams. The thought of innovation and guidance towards finishing goals have been incorporated throughout my life. For example, I assist teach karate at Guardian Traditional Martial Arts. In karate, I have always dreamt of becoming a black belt; now, I am a third degree black belt. Through a rigorous eleven years of training, I have over-succeeded my dream of becoming a black belt. Also, at karate, I assist in classes. To assist in class, we have to become a black belt, along with being hand-picked to assist. Being able to assist in class is a milestone, being that only the creme of the crop are allowed. To add on, a few long-term goals I want to achieve are: becoming an anesthesiologist, becoming the class valedictorian if not the top four percent of the graduating class, and getting accepted to the University of Pennsylvania.
