Dealing with death is a certainty in life, we can react negatively or we can choose to react positively. In the two passages “Tears in Heaven” and “Always a Motive” there are similarities and many differences. A similarity between the two characters, Joe Manetti and Eric Clapton is that they are grieving the loss of their child. After the death of their child they appear to be lost, an example from Tears in Heaven, “I must be strong and carry on” 5-6. An example from Always a Motive is that Manetti drives for hours for no particular reason. Both characters also speak as if they wish they were in heaven with their son. They are in so much emotional pain that they appear to be lost in their own minds. In Claptons “Tears in Heaven” the speaker
