Choice define themselves with actions, but actions will only occur with the inspiration to do so. Dreams and Goals are what satisfy the need for inspiration. Throughout “Twelfth Night”, Olivia and Viola are both in mourning, but while one decides to hide away from the public eye for 7 years, One has the inspiration to keep one going and is even willing to Cross-dress in order to work for the Duke of Illyria. The reason? Inspiration to move on from the death of a close sibling. Or at least of the thought of death. Whereas the other doesn’t have that inspiration, or at least not yet.
Motivation, Determination, Judgement, and decision-making are what come out of Dreams, goals and Desires.
Dreams push and drive motivation. When Cesario first goes over to Olivia to speak about Orsino’s Undying Love and Orsino’s pleads for Olivia’s Hand in Marriage. However despite all that, Olivia begins to develop a love for Cesario Instead. Determination stems from an idea inspired from one’s dreams and desires. When Maria Wrote a letter to Malvolio in Olivia’s hand writing, Maria had put herself at a risk of someone finding out about the prank, but it was the determination that kept the prank alive. Maria could’ve easily messed up the handwriting if she wasn’t careful enough, but Maria kept going through with her plan even after Malvolio was put in a cellar and sending the fool dressed up as Sir Topas. The determination it takes to reach the climax of a dream or desire is quite great, but it’s required in order to achieve whatever you have in
