Motivation Devastation
What is your opinion on the idea that motivation drives the decisions we make? Motivation is the drive a person has to do something. Although it is common for people’s actions to be the result of motivation, it does not always mean that person will do anything to accomplish what that person is motivated to do. Motivation was a typical sight in the film “Slumdog Millionaire” by director “Danny Boyle”. Motivation is the idea of pushing to acomplish what you feel you need. When Jamal was motivated, he wouldn’t give up, because for Jamal there was no in between, there was motivated and not motivated. When Jamal is motivated there is not stopping him, he will do anything it takes, no matter the cost One of the many time, Jamal showed this is when his elder brother Salim locks him in and outhouse with a chair to stop him from meeting and acquiring an autograph from his idol, so he jumped into the feces filled hole in order to apprehend the signature. Another time he shows this is when he meets the love of his life for the first time (Latika) and loses her, but the motivation to find his love is more powerful than anything he shall face. Evidence to support this is shown by this quote, when Jamal goes on “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire”, Jamal “I knew you would be watching.”, Latika “I thought we would meet only at death.”, Jamal “This is our destiny.”. The first of the two main struggles that Jamal has to face is when the trio were children and are lured into a child labor ring compound ran by the local crime boss Maman. When they escape Salim allows for Latika to be recaptured crushing Jamal’s heart. The next major struggle he faces is when Salim pulls a gun on him and forces him out, but Maman’s crew track down Latika forcing Salim and Latika to go on the run leaving Jamal behind, separating him for many years. This the proves the motivation that Jamal has and the reason I chose him as the most motivated person in the 5 time Oscar award winning film. Jamal supports the idea of motivation because when Jamal is in a pickle he always strives to surpass the issue this is called motivation. Unlike most people who are motivated by money Jamal is motivated by the more valuable things like love. Jamal is also shown as a very passive person, but also a very brave one when he needs to
