In the story, "Rikki-Tikki-Tavi" , by Rudyard Kipling, both the mongoose and the, Rikki-Tikki, and the cobra Nagaina, acted bravely. A careful analysis of each person's motivation will reveal that Rikki was more courageous then Nagaina.
Nagaina acted bravely in two ways. First she had enough courage to actually go up to the mongoose and try to attack him. She snuck up behind him and as Nag was talking to him she jumped. She could've died by doing so. Mongoose's can kill. Next, she went up to the house. Darzee's wife had even told Rikki that she meant killing! She took the risks and took the chance.
