Motivation: First Generation College Student

Motivation is simply the desire to do things, the reason or reasons one has for acting or behaving in a particular way. My reason to do what I do is because of my family and my socioeconomic background. Being a first generation college student, the journey to becoming a college student wasn’t easy. I was born in the Bronx, New York, and being in that area I was exposed to different things. I saw drug deals happen on my block, I saw drug addicts walking around the neighborhood, teenagers robbing other teenagers because of what they had on. Seeing things like this and knowing what my family went by coming to America for a better life, I knew I had to persevere and limit my mistakes. I am interested in marketing, digital advertising, social media marketing, and brand development, but I am not sure if that is something I would like to for the rest of my life. I am very open minded, and I hope to obtain an internship that would help me chose which sector in business I would like to pursue. Other goals I have is to get married, and have a healthy relationship because my parents didn’t have that. I would like to purchase my own house, be able to pay off my student loans, get a car and have a peace of mind by age 30. I know having a specific age range puts pressure on me but I am truly a motivated person who won’t stop until I achieve my goals. Things on my dream bucket is to own a business with my two childhood friends, because that is something we’ve always spoken about since we were kids. We always wanted to have our own business, so we could provide for our families. We are all in college now but we still think about ideas to start something because Mark Zuckerberg created Facebook in college so anything is
