In a way in beloved has the mother dealing with the baring of her taking her own child and within the scarlet letter having hester thinking about kill her child once in the story ,but she rather them both struggle together seeing that when perl gets older she does not play with the other children and acts as she please. Both having some sort of symbol that reflector there past.
In the scarlet letter it shows a better tribute to motherhood because it starts out with hester having her first child and growing with her so i think she has a closer connection to pearl then sethe has to denver ,and beloved because in the story she makes it seems like she cares for beloved more than she does denver an example of this is when beloved rips baby suggs blanket ,and she doesn't get mad at belove ,but at denver for not doing anything about it or calming down
