Mother Figure What is a mother figure? The mother figure archetype is usually a ‘Mother Earth’ type of character. The mother archetype is kind, supporting, and they see the best in people. The mother figure always visits people in their time of need and they always know exactly what to do and what to say. The mother figure is the rock the hero can fall back on when needed.
The Fairy Godmother in the story Cinderella is an excellent display of a mother figure. The Fairy Godmother teaches Cinderella that if she is kindhearted good things will come her way. While the Fairy Godmother does not have a huge role in the story, it is important to remember that if she did not help Cinderella in her time of need there would be no story to speak of.
