Most Significant Lessons

Decent Essays
Three most significant lessons that I learned are (1). To be an advocate for young children and family in order to create quality program in your community. (2) To have passion from one another is positive behavior for early childcare professionals; we have to respect one another in order to get along. (3)As an early childhood educator, we should not stereotype other cultures; however, we should welcome diversity in a positive environment. As all of these are significant to diversity, equity and social justice, it has to be implemented to support children and families. As an ECE, it is also important to organize activities that would promote growth, well-being, social and emotional support to children and families in the community.

My goal as a teacher is to respect the diversity and uniqueness of each child, making sure that each student is apart of co-constructing the learning experiences, knowledge and the environment we create as a group. As an early childhood educator I seek to make sure I model the respect, confidence and acceptance that I would like my students to achieve throughout their learning and interaction with others. I as a teacher want to provide an environment that each child feels they belong to and has a connection…

A major life lesson that I have learned is how to be careful of the things I say. I am sure that in one way or another, many people have heard a story about watching their words. For me, this was expressed through a dollar bill. When I was in fifth grade, our class had a counselor from a nearby middle school come over and share a few words with us. I will confess, at the time I wore the brand of a “gifted child” and as such, I was almost always bored in the classroom.…

Life Lesson: Some people have to be told that something is wrong to realize it. Historical Support Paragraph One major life lesson I pulled from this unit is that some people have to be told that something is wrong to realize that it is. Around 1/3 of Southerners owned slaves (webquest 1).This fact can directly connect with my lessons, because this is something that we find very wrong today. However in that time period, this was considered normal. This might be because it wasn’t viewed as wrong in that time period, or nobody told them it was wrong.…

The short journey across the sixty-First Avenue to fifty-Ninth Street of Hialeah was filled with mixed emotions. I loved going to school each morning, yet the stinging cold often reminded me of the dread awaiting me as soon as the alarm started at exactly six o’clock. John G. Dupuis Elementary School was a few minutes from our apartment. I still remember vividly how we lined up outside the street for the school bus often wondering how many round trips the old bus had made over the years. Looking expectantly at the opposite end of the street, we almost thought the bus would one day stall and never appear, but every day it showed up when we almost gave up.…

The lesson I taught was my first step into the world of teaching. I think I performed well for my first attempt however, there is a lot of room for improvement. My 10 minute lesson was not executed as effectively as I had originally planned. While my ‘4 students’ responded well to the task set, I feel a class of year 1 students could possibly find this task too challenging at their learning level as knowledge of special events comes with life experience.…

Being placed at East Swain Elementary and given the opportunity to observe the teacher and the students. Have truly taught me some valuable life lessons when writing the first reflection I touched on this some but not a whole lot. The main thing that I have learned is how to get the students attention I know for myself growing up in school I had a tendency to drift off and ignore what was going on because I didn't find it interesting. Well when watching Mr.Dunford who is my host teacher he teacher fifth grade math he put this in a new light for me while teaching about fractions he gives the overview of the lesson and than gives the students the chance to come up with a cool name to call it. Also he has given out M&M in cups with different amount in…

A major lesson that i've learned over time that shaped me as person over time as a person is that whenever you want to get something accomplished in life you will fail whether its one time or one hundred times, all that matters is that the failures you encounter makes you strive harder and you get back up to accomplish whatever you are trying to succeed at. This is a vital tool because it shows that you are strong and determined to get what you want and won't let failure defeat you but strengthen you instead. The first time that i was faced with this problem was when i was in the ninth grade and wanted a limited pair of shoes that were releasing in january and i didn't have money to buy them ands wasn't old enough to get a job for the shoes.…

The early years are the most crucial years for child development (Caroll-Lind & Angus, 2011). In life, there are many situations in which we wish we could go back and fix, but also there are situations where if we could go back and had a chance to redo it we wouldn’t because of the lessons we’ve learned from the outcomes. Some lessons that are learned are more important than the others, some of them are more obvious than the others too. Some take time for you to really fully understand the lesson. Most lessons I have learned throughout the years have been outcomes of me doing stupid things in which I knew not to do but I proceeded to do them anyways.…
