One of the Most Important Moment in My Life.

The terrible robbery incident that happened to me and the rest members of my immediate family 14yrs ago occurred In the big house my father has labored to build to his comfort, and also , threatened my life, and the entire household. Only a few flashback memories of normalcy, panic, and luck are what are left in my head.

It was a normal raining season back in Nigeria, West Africa, known as summer here in the United States. The month was July and a Tuesday night. I had just finished my evening tutorials along with my other siblings. My mother as usual, prepared a very nice meal “pounded yam and egusi soup” for dinner. Noticing the fact that everyone else felt reluctant to go and open the gate for my dad, because no one wants to be faced with the question “why are you still up?” I quickly rose up, grabbed the keys and ran downstairs to open the gate. The gate has two parts; one is to the right why the other is to the left. I opened to part to the left first and then, the other to the right. My dad slowly drove in, and I closed the first part of the right and reached for the part to the left. As I got closer to totally closing the left part, four hefty looking men heavily armed jumped in. Immediately, one of the men seized me with a gun to my head and directed me not to say a word. In a split second, I noticed that my dad who has not even stepped out of the car has already been rounded up by the three other armed men. In my mind, I was terrified and the state of terrible panic took over me. At this time, neither my siblings nor my mother who was already asleep knew yet what was going on. All of a sudden, the armed men pulled my dad out of the car; one of them collected the car keys, cranked it, and left it running. In my terrified and panic state, I could also see my dad shivering, and looking so scared that I could not help but started crying because I have never seen my father in that condition before, regardless the fact I was also incapacitated with a gun to my head as well.
