Throughout life there will be setbacks and struggles that need to be overcome to succeed in life. "The Most Dangerous Game" ,written by Richard Connell, is a story of a man who falls off his yacht and swims to an island where a general, for fun, hunts humans. "A Trip to the edge of survival," written by Ron Arias, is a true story of five fishermen that get stranded at sea and lived on a ship for 144 days. Lastly, the movie, The Hunger Games, directed by Gary Ross, is about a girl that stands up for her sister and fights for survival. To overcome life threatening challenges, it takes perseverance, strategy and wise use of the resources given .
To begin, it takes perseverance in the face of challenges. From the movie, as Katniss is getting toward the edge of the arena, the creators shoot fireballs at her and is hit on her leg. In the game, Rainsford makes traps to help fight of his hunters. Using his vast knowledge of survival, Rainsford creates traps to kill or capture who is after him. Had Rainsford not came up with the idea of making traps, he could have died. Also, the fisherman had to collect rain water. They had to collect rain water to drink because they did not know how long they would be out on the water and they had nothing else to drink. By collecting and storing rain water, the fishermen would survive until they were helped. From the movie, Katniss avoids the initial blood bath. When the games start, the most casualties occur at the Cornucopia, where the weapons and supplies are stored.
