Sleep disorders are serious disorders that can interfere with someone’s normal physical, social, emotional, and mental health. The most common sleep disorders are sleep related breathing disorders. This includes; Obstructive Sleep Apnea, snoring, Central Sleep Apnea, Child Sleep Apnea, Infant Sleep Apnea, and Sleep Related Groaning.
The most common sleep disorder is Snoring. Snoring is the loud or harsh sound that someone has during sleep. This happens because when you breathe during sleep the flow of air makes the tissues in the back of your throat vibrate. Almost 50 percent of people snore in some point of their lives. Snoring appears to be genetic and happens more to adults when they get older. Some common reasons that cause someone to snore could be sleeping on your back or having cold or other allergies. Another reason that could cause you to snore is if someone was under the influence of alcohol. This happens because alcohol causes the muscles in your throat to relax making you more likely to snore. A couple symptoms of snoring could be waking up in the morning with a dry mouth or an irritated throat.
Obstructive Sleep Apnea is a common sleep related breathing disorder that causes someone to suddenly stop breathing during sleep. This is caused when the airway in your throat is being blocked repeatedly and reduces the air that gets to your lungs.
